At least 15 years of progressive experience working with national and international agencies guiding research and development;
Experience of working with private sector will be an added advantage
Skill Set
- Proven skills in managing research and development teams working across disciplines and research topics;
- Ability to develop new and innovative research collaborations as demonstrated by both programme development and fund raising;
- Proven skills to develop research strategies and planning with an aim to undertake foresight analysis in research and development;
- Publications in reputed journals;
- Skills to develop and deploy technology interventions that focus on progressive research and market development; and
- Skills to work under pressure and deliver on multiple tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the research teams at the University to consolidate current and emerging research programmes;
- Support the Vice-Chancellor in identifying and developing research and development portfolio relevant to the mandate of the University;
- Support various research teams at the University to identify research and development opportunities as well as sources of finances to undertake actions;
- Develop sound technology deployment platform for the University on transdisciplinary issues of interest;
- Support the academic programmes with inputs related to research and design of academic programmes;
- Lead fund raising efforts to further strengthen the research, development and technology programmes at the University;
- Lead development of course(s) relevant to using the experience and expertise available with the University; and
- Lead efforts to develop appropriate communication and outreach material related to research, development and technological interventions related to University activities.
Qualifications
Ph.D. with at least 15 years of experience guiding and directing research and partnership development in national and international organizations
